ISLA Statement of Support for Social Justice

The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies in the Liberal Arts strives to create a diverse and inclusive environment in which all individuals are treated equitably with love, empathy, and respect regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, (dis)ability, and more. We understand that achieving social justice requires a deep commitment to fairness in treatment and access to opportunities and resources for everyone.

We believe that interdisciplinary studies can help us develop new methods to eradicate structural and institutional racism, classism, linguicism, ableism, ageism, cisheterosexism, religious bias and xenophobia. Our mission as an academic department is to pursue scholarship, education, and service that encourage the development of a more equitable and socially just world.
